About me
I graduated from Cardiff School of Art and Design in the mid 1990ās with a degree in ceramics, specialising in mould making. I explored the embodiment of the human image through clay. This fascination led me into a sixteen-year career in the film and television industry, where I worked firstly in costume and then as a hair and make-up artist for theatrical productions, a vibrant and rewarding chapter grounded in visual storytelling and craftsmanship.
My passion for making in clay eventually brought me back to ceramics. I now work from my garden studio in Cardiff, creating wheel-thrown pieces guided by form, colour, and subtle decorative detail.
My work is influenced by the colours and textures of the natural coastline and surrounding landscape. I explore these ideas through form and surface, using glaze chemistry as a language to express the subtleties found in nature. The pleasure of a well-crafted object, whatever the discipline, continues to inspire my practice. Iām drawn to artefacts that reflect the time, skill, and intention of the maker, where design decisions are shaped by the materials and processes involved. My approach is also informed by a lifetime of aesthetic memories and an eclectic visual sensibility shaped by both my artistic training and previous career.
